[Paddlewise] Decked vs SOT

I believe the correct boat for an individual would, hopefully, be a decision
of: The right boat for the type of kayaking desired, the weather conditions
and the user's skills. For the same reason it wouldn't be easy or wise to use
a sports car on a family outing or four-wheeling, you should think twice about
using a SOT in cold water/weather and nasty seas, a one-holer in the tropics
and a seakayak on rapids. Station wagons, sedans and sports cars all serve
specific purposes. So do decked seakayaks, SOT's and WW boats. Common sense
and practicality over narrow-mindedness stubbornness. If one owned one of each
of the basic styles of kayaks, one's possibilities for enjoying the wonders of
our sport would be greatly enhanced.
