I gave away my canoe when I moved west and took up kayaking. Now I'm back north and am in the market for a cheap but good canoe. I picked up an old wood canvas Kennebec that I was hoping could be fixed, but it's beyond help and will probably be burned to provide heat to boil my skinboats cockpit coaming. ;-) I found a used Old Town Columbia for $400, but I havent found anyone who can tell me if its worth the money. Probably not a great solo canoe but I thought it was light for a glass boat and would be good for fishing with the Newfy and for trips in the BWCA and beyond. Its a pretty boat. Anyone know about these? The guy told me they dont make them anymore, and I couldnt find any info about them on Old Towns website Maybe I could pick up a good new Canadian canoe too. The exchange rate is very favorable (to me).
