I have locks on my rack and a cable to secure my yak, but for $45 a year, I also have an insurance policy to cover the loss of the boat and equipment. I spent a lot of time shopping around for just the right boat, and it would be a real drag if something happened to it, but at least I can recoup my monetary investment during the grieving process.
