<I found a used Old Town Columbia for $400> Wayne: The Old Town Columbia could be a good deal, depending on what condition it's in. Check the serial number for the exact model year, but I think they were made in the mid to late 1980's when Old Town had a greater commitment to the higher end of the canoe market. At 18' if I remember, it had sleek lines somewhat patterned after the old Sawyer Cruiser, so it is an efficient touring canoe, but probably not very quick to maneuver in the backwaters. They were made with fiberglass or Kevlar lay-ups, and wood trim was an option, with retails up to around $1200 or more I'm guessing. Check the keel line and stems for damage, and look at any wood parts for dry rot. It could be a great BWCA cruiser. -Andy Knapp Minneapolis *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************
