Hello Kayakers

I'd be glad, and thank you for, any suggestions on how to carry out the following exercise.....

I have a white water kayak. I want to cut off (with a saw) 10 inches off the stern. This will leave an opening that will need to be blocked or closed.

The question is: how best to close the hole?

Actually its an Alamax surf kayak at 10 feet 6 inches.... I want to experiment with its handling at 8' 6" and there's a lot of tail on it..... that can come off (in my opinion!)
