Here in the Northern Chesapeake Bay area, I use a pair of cut-off ski
poles (18ish inches). They help me in the silt when I mis-judge an
outgoing tide and work perfectly for helping my flat bottomed CLC Mill
Creek accross the occasional ice we get on our feeder creeks - which
thousands of incoming Canada geese this weekend are reminding me is not
far away :-)
