Those are excellent dimensions for a sea kayak (providing it is a good design, good layup, ect.).  But it's not really a short kayak.  You can draw the line anywhere, the Coaster is 13.5'. A 14' boat would probably still be as playful, but if you get up to 15' or more, most kayaks will feel like "long" boats compared to the Coaster.  Why is this?  I don't know, it just seems to be the case.
