The recent water trail conference was hosted by NAWT, North American Water Trails, Inc., which is a sort of national umbrella organization for water trail associations and agencies developing water trail recreational facilities. I have been to several of their previous conferences as a representative of the Lake Superior Water Trail Association of Minnesota, but was unable to attend this last one. Dave Getchell, Sr., one of the founding members of NAWT, edited and largely wrote a water trails handbook, Modern Water Trails, which was directed at the development of water trail projects, and was never intended to be a guidebook as such for the public.
