They will let in a little water but not much. I have Gortex uppers and lowers and they do quite well. I also have a full Gortex dry suit. The great advantage of the two-piece suit is that it can be compacted in a dry bag and stowed in the kayak and the uppers and lowers can be pulled out as needed.
