I am suprised that there has been no mention of Ken Kelton's
account of a great white trying to take a bite out of his
kayak south of SanFransico. He offers an interesting read

That story is old.  Almost seven years old, old.  The write-up by 
Mike Chin has been on the GASP web site for a long time.  You can read 
it at http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/sharks.html  (click on "The One That
Let Us Get Away")

It continues to make the shark-shock rounds like it's a new story 
which gives the impression that there have been many such attacks.
