canoes/kayaks vs cold water.

i also appreciate dry feet in a canoe during winter paddling. however
listening to kayakers, i was initially overly concerned about wet feet in a
kayak.

last year i used a dry suit to keep the bod safe. to keep my feet warm, i
used 25 yr old neoprene booties. well the booties had holes in them so i was
concerned that my feet would be cold. no such problem, water drained before
entering yak and there wasn't much air movement in the cockpit, so my feet
were warm all winter long. in fact this year, i plan to cut bigger holes in
the booties to let the water drain out faster to make launching easier.

so here in the mid-Atlantic region where the water temps only get down to
30'ish,
i don't know what the big problem is with kayakers and wet/cold feet.

i don't have a problem, perhaps others have poor circulation. have you
really experienced a problem with cold feet while kayaking? maybe all one
needs is an insulation pad under their feet. i'm happy with holly booties if
i have to paddle my kayak, which is a tough choice compared to dry feet in
my canoe.

bye bye bliven
