Mac McCarthy (Feather Canoes, Sarasota, FL) says that graphite is inappropriate down there. A boat on a parked car gets far too hot. He uses a WEST material which I think is aluminum powder, and finds that it strongly reduces wear/scratches when going over an oyster bar (no, the kind where oysters live).
