It is not advertised as "waterproof" although it is dunkable. Do not zoom it while it's under water, though. I've worn it under my PFD in Class III rapids, so you needn't worry about it getting wet. The lens is not as good as my Pentax AF/SLR lenses, but better than most point-and-shoot cameras. We bought ours in preparation for a trip to the Apostles in 1994. I think the zoom length is a little longer in the newer ones.
