After going through 3 or 4 cheap collapsable water containers a year I now use a 5 gallon rigid plastic container made by Reliance Products Ltd. that costs less than $10. I believe REI carries them in the States but I am sure you can pick them up at almost any camping supply store. Besides taking a beating they also make convenient seats. It fits in my CD Solstice GT's back hatch quite nicely and I know they fit comfortably into Arluk III and Tesla back hatches as well.
Have a great trip!
