I like the idea of the saddles and rollers, but I made my own rollers (sorta). I cut a V in a 4x4 (wood) the approx. shape of my hull at the stern location. Two 1 foot long pieces of 3/8" plywood were glued to 4x4 on the V to make a long flat V. U-bolts hold 4x4 to round bars . This arrangement looks like an open book attached to the bars. The plywood is covered with carpet (glued) and makes a large surface to support the boat. The carpet acts as a roller. setting the bow onto the V and lifting from the stern the kayak can be slid along the carpet till the desired location is reached on the saddles. The stern is held down with a strap around the boat and bar. This arrangement costs about $5 and works great on my pickup with a camper shell. BTW the carpet does not scratch the hull even on my wooden kayak. My $.02 Larry *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Wed Nov 25 1998 - 16:47:36 PST
