Regarding, A Spiritual Journey at Midlife by Ann Linnea (1993, Pocket
Books),
about her journey around Lake Superior, in celebration of her 43rd birthday.

"none of them liked it, I think in part because it was more
about the author than about either paddling or Lake Superior."

Maybe that's because it's a spiritual "girls" book, real touchy feely. Maybe
it'll help balance out all the hyper-testosterone books that a lot of guys
write. Speaking of hyper-testosterone, try reading, "We Survived Yesterday". I
forget who it's by, but it's about four guys that paddle the whole length of
Baja doing a constant 40 miles a day! Why they held that pace is beyond me. I
doubt if they saw much. The book is mostly about busting ass!

Don't take me too seriously folks,
