Florida Raccoons seem to be more cunning then any I have encountered
elsewhere! I used to have a dozen or so banana plants in my back yard. These
produced delicious finger bananas which I would cut up and dehydrate...if
the raccoons didn't get them first.

If the bananas ripened on the plant, the raccoons got em, so I tried to hang
the bunch (40-50 lbs.) from a hook I placed on the overhanging eve of my
house...maybe 3 or 4 feet from the wall. I tied a short rope to the stem and
put a loop in the other end which I hung on the hook. Bananas were untouched
and started ripening after a couple of days. The next morning the raccoons
had plundered the ripened bananas. Somehow, they had scaled the corner of
the house, and lifted the bunch off the hook! The loop was still intact.
That weekend I yanked out all the bananas and planted flowers!
