[Paddlewise] FW: Roof Racks

I got around this problem by glueing carpeting on top of foam, which I
got from packing crates. However, the foam is degrading badly because
it isn't UV-resistant, so I need to replace it this winter. :-)

Yesterday it was 62 degrees F. in the Twin Cities -- 9 degrees above
the record high for the date set in 1890. The Star Tribune reported
that Midwest Mountaineering is selling more kayaks than skis this
season.

Got my copy of ANorAK last week. Nice article by Greg Stamer about the
forward stroke used by the 16-year-old national kayaking champion of
Greenland, Maligiaq Padilla. He learned to kayak from his grandfather,
and his forward stroke is in some ways quite different from what is
usually taught as Greenland style paddling in the U.S.

Problem with foam is that you can't slide the boat.
