What is the simplest, effective way to mount a compass on a yak without
drilling, cutting adn bolting it thru the deck? What is teh compass ofchoice
for this application?

When I had my old fiberglass Sealution, I cut a base for my Sailor II
compass from a piece of one-by-six pine, carved out the bottom to fit the
curve and slope of the deck, then sanded it, waterproofed it with epoxy
resin, painted it with black auto paint to match the compass, and finally
fastened it to the deck with silicone adhesive. The adhesive held tightly
until I decided to move the compass forward, when I was able to pry it
loose and, after a little cleanup, reglue it in its new location with more
silicone adhesive.
