Hi everyone,

Have read the discussion on tents and recommendation of Moss and The North
Face tents as being the best quality. They are also the most expensive, so
I'd be interested if anyone has any recommendations on the best time/place
to buy one of these tents at a discount. I am not in any hurry....

catalog shows half a dozen North Face tents on sale. Probably getting rid
of last year's models.

Try http://www.campmor.com

Campmor is clearing out their tents. I just ordered a TNF Nebula for $300 (regular $365) and should get it today (I hope). They have just about all of their tents on clearance right now. Don't know if their web page has the clearance price, I ordered over the phone using my latest catalog.

Unfortunately a few days after I ordered my tent I got a catalog from Sierra retailers (? can't remember the name for sure but I can grab the catalog if it's needed) and they are selling the Nebula for $274. #!%#! Oh well, the campmor price is still good.

Also try REI at http://www.rei.com or their outlet at http://www.rei-outlet.com/index.html

Good Luck,
Mel

Couldn't find the original post or I would've sent this private.

I get GearMail from REI which is email notification of sales, specials, etc.
This was in the mail this a.m.

I, of course, have nothing to do with REI or North Face, or anybody else for
that matter. :-)

*****SET UP CAMP WITH THE NORTH FACE*****
>> The North Face Coriolis Tent <<
Sale $199.99 Comp. At $245
An excellent value! This comfortable 3-season backpacking
tent is built to withstand the worst wind and rainstorms.
Features two doors with vestibules that provide easy access
and protected storage space. Large no-see-um mesh ceiling
panel for increased ventilation; factory-taped rainfly
and floor seams. Color-coded poles, semi-continuous
pole sleeves and locking pole tips make set ups fast and easy.

Whitney and Smith, the kayak tour outfitters, sell their boats
and tents annualy. In their most recent catalogue they indicate
theya re selling "8 week old North Face Expedition 25 tents".
For prices and availability contact them at (403) 678-3052,
info_at_ldgendaryex.com.

For what it is worth I strongly prefer the VE-24 "Guide" model
North Face tent for arctic travel rather than the 25. The guide
has a more substantial floor, stainless zipper pullls and no
vestibules to accumulate black flys and mosquitos just outside,
ready to join you fore lunchor dinner whenever the door is
opened.
