Martina and I rose slightly late one morning while canoeing along James Bay. Since the channel we wanted to use was about 10km out, it was important that we catch the tide and ride it out. We had to hustle to make the tide. Our water was in a barrel pack which had been emptied of food earlier in our trip. It was too heavy to lift, so we rolled it to and from the canoe each morning and night. Unfortunately, by rising late one morning we had to frantically roll the barrel along the flats as we tried to catch the tide -- an ultra-slow motion chase that only covered a few hundred yards. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************
