Discovery Channel ran a film not long ago on Orca which included
footage taken in South America. The camera captured Orca thrusting
themselves unto to the beach to grab seals and then slide back into the
water with their prey flaying in their jaws. No reason to doubt
the occasion you report. When they see a meal they are aggressive.
Orca are intelligent and it's good thing they are.

I once watched orca coming right in among the shoals off Vancouver Island chasing
their prey and boy do they move quick, I nearly freaked.
They are like a heat seeking missile locked on target. Seeing such a
dorsal fin remain plowing the surface at such speed was impressive.

Someone on wavelength once commented about an Orca rising beside his Kayak and opening
its Jaws wide giving him a wide view. I recall him saying how bad it's breath was. He
further remarked: "Great oh god is thy fish and my boat so small." Now that was a
close encounter.

Best Regards,

Philip
