There is a vast array of commercial sites offering free space for the insertion of some sort of banner or link. The most inobtrusive is xoom (where I have my journal page down below) which requires a small button link at the bottom of the index (first) page for 11 megabytes. There are also geocities and tripod, but they extend the requirements radically. Many AOL'ers do not know that they are entitled to 10 megabytes spread over their 5 allowed screen names and it is an extremely fast server. by the way, 10 or 11 megabytes is a huge amount of webspace if they are designed correctly- I am expecting to be able to put on over a year and a half of images (image per day) conservatively on this space before I run out.
