Personally, I use a bivy sack instead of a big tent. But with a tent, you could use any long metal rod, probably would need to be at least 24" long, and personally, I'd just as soon carry a set of 36" long rods, probably aluminum or brass. Buy at a hardware store, hammer a hook into one end, and be sure to bring a mallet for setting the stake. Also, any weight inside the tent around the edges will help considerably.
