Three canoeists on a camping trip in the Sandy Hook area on the New Jersey shore died from carbon monoxide fumes in their tent. A fourth was found unconscious outside the tent. It seems they were using a charcoal grill inside the tent for either warmth or to cook fish they had just caught. It is a trip they regularly have taken each year. This sad episode occurred about 10 miles from my home. The local news report stated that they were not experienced campers and were using borrowed equipment. The survivor found outside was so disoriented that when he exited the tent, he rezipped the door shut.
