While all of you good folks in the north watch your pipes freeze,
perhaps someone could take a moment to send along some recommendations on
the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Minnesota? We have friends in Minneapolis
and would like to justify a trip to see them this summer with something
important - like a new paddling experience. I have looked at the related
GORP pages and at some of the outfitters they list, but I'd really
appreciate some personal observations and recommendations.
And while I'm at it, I'd like to add my thanks to Jackie for making this
list possible and everyone on the list for their shared knowledge, humor,
and friendship. Jackie has always been supportive and helpful (on and off
list) with this not-so-newby. We have made new friends met through this
list. And we have learned more about paddling than ever would have been
possible without all of you (sorry Dana, "Ya'll"). I subscribe to several
lists relating to other interests. PaddleWise is, without a doubt, the most
informative, "on-topic", and civilized of any I have seen. That is a tribute
not only to Jackie but to everyone in our community.
May all of you have a great Holiday Season and stay safe.
        Kurt Wisner

Day - brrrrr)
