Re: [Paddlewise] Electric bilge pumps

I have a Rule 500 operated by a waterproof switch, both of which
I obtained at West Marine.

For the battery I use two lantern batteries connected in series
inside a plastic bag. 

I have not had a chance to count how many times
the cockpit can be emptied before the battery dies.

Does anyone have experience using gel batteries? Can they be submerged?
Or do they have to be sealed from the outside like I am doing with
the lantern batteries?
