Very impractical on water, very annoying on snow, very useful in Canada's north. Snowmobiles are the parents of Seadoos, which are strictly water based. Some snowmobiles can do rather well on water for a short distance but have to keep the speed up or they sink like a rock. I watched an arctic documentary & was surprised to see Inuit crossing narrow open water leads between icefloes with snowmobiles. They had a board fastened between the skis for lift. ------------- Lloyd Bowles The Mad Canoeist "Keep the open side up!" http://www.fortunecity.com/greenfield/clearstreets/358/index.html *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Wed Jan 20 1999 - 13:28:23 PST
