I've been very pleased to have had a synthetic sleeping bag with me and to
prove out its "keeps you warm even when wet" qualities. After three solid
days of rain in Glacier Bay National Park last summer, EVERYTHING in my
gear was some level of moist or wet. It was cool there in early May,
frequently in the 40s although not freezing at night, and I never slept
cold. We were camping out of our sea kayaks and there was no option of
pulling up to a warm dry spot to camp for the night. The bag compressed
well in a compression sack, inside a dry bag. On this particular trip, was
paddling a no-bulkhead tandem kayak (an older Eddyline design) so getting
through a small hatch wasn't an issue. I've taken a slightly smaller bag
camping out of my Eddyline Falcon and it got in the aft hatch with minimal
coaxing.
