I'm looking for someone with experience with a Sony DCR-VX 1000 video camera who has used it with the Amphibico VH-1000 under water video housing. I'm using a Sony Hi-8 TR-V85 with a Ikelite dive housing now but am interested in upgrading to a nice digital video camera with a housing that is not as heavy as the Ikelite which is a real disadvantage when in a kayak. Maybe some of the kayakers on the list who dive will know a underwater videographer who has used the DCR-VX 1000. Information on other digital video camcorders would also be welcome. Does anyone have the new Canon Vistura or the new Sony DCR-TRV900? Thanks. If you are primarily interested in the video aspects you might consider the JVC GR-DV3. JVC makes it's own underwater housing for this unit that is good to 80ft. See their web site DV section under accessories... I liked ALL the features of this unit EXCEPT that the implementation of i-link on the IEEE-1394 is non-standard, so if your focus is DV non-linear editing this one will not be for you, but for general videography with the occasional still frame capture it's a good unit (at a good price). Available at Circuit City, etc. James -----Original Message----- From: Rex <rexrob_at_premier1.net> To: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net <paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net> Date: Sunday, January 31, 1999 6:06 PM Subject: [Paddlewise] Video, Sony DCR-VX1000 / Amphibico Housing I'm looking for someone with experience with a Sony DCR-VX 1000 video camera who has used it with the Amphibico VH-1000 under water video housing.
