You do have to be careful about abrading the latex socks, but they make it so much easier to put on the suit, as well as allowing you to wear extra socks underneath for warmth, that I think they are worth it. What I do to protect the latex socks from sand, etc., is wear them under a pair of Neoprene boots with semi-rigid soles. Also, the latex socks are replaceable, probably for about the same price as a new pair of Seal Skins if you can have it done locally. I am deciding whether to get latex socks or ankle gaskets. While latex socks will keep my feet dry, I am concerned about wearing holes in the heals. An associate of mine says he is able to wear SealSkinz [sp?] socks _under_ the ankle gaskets to form a watertight seal. He can then buy new SealSkinz socks if they wear. I suspect this topic may have been discussed before. If it has, what is the consensus? If it hasn't, what are the thoughts of the members of this list?
