I'm Chuck Landis. This thread is too much for even a dedicated lurker like myself to resist, a great idea. I began paddling a canoe 55 years ago when I earned the canoeing merit badge. A five-day canoe trip with my son in the Boundry Waters last June made me determined to spend more time on the water. I live in southeast Florida about ten minutes from the ocean and the Intracoastal Canal. I imagine I am one of the newest and the oldest on the list. I have been kayaking for less than six months, and I turned 68 in mid December. I launched my new K-Light on New Years Day and have been paddling three or four times a week, mostly on the Intracoastal and nearby lakes and canals. Those of you who share your kayaking experience through Paddlewise have been a major source of learning (and humor) for me. Also, I met Bob Denton through his Paddlewise posts and really enjoy having him as a paddling companion. When folks ask "Why a folding kayak?" I reply, "Just lucky, I guess." With reasonable care the "skin" of my K-Light will last for 30 years, and so I won't have to replace it until I'm 98!!! :-) *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Tue Feb 09 1999 - 08:53:49 PST
