I would agree with Dave, I own both a coated nylon drysuit as well as a Gortex
dry suit.
There really is no comparison, the Gortex is more comfortable day in and day
out.
The coated nylon is initially a little warmer, given the same layering and
conditions.
But as soon as I sweat enough I too have to periodically dump water from the
wrist gaskets.
I do sweat a lot more in the nylon suit. Once I am wet enough, and then stop
for a while the suit seems to get colder than if I am in Gortex. I think the
wet layer under the nylon cools off faster than the Gortex.
Of course with enough layers I don't notice. When I do wear the nylon suit,
(usually just around home for day trips)
I just wear an extra layer to try and contain the water.
If I knew then what I know now (how many times have I thought that)! I
wouldn't have tried to save a few bucks and and I would have gone strait to
the Gortex.
