RE: [Paddlewise] Gore-Tex as Safety Equipment (was: Evaporative c ooling with Gore-Tex)

Because of evaporative cooling, I now see Gore-Tex as safety equipment
because it allows me to wear more than enough insulation underneath.
When I wore my standard dry suit, I always worried about over dressing;
this is no longer a big issue with the Gore-Tex. Further, with the
Gore-Tex I now wear a dry suit in air temps that I would wear a standard
dry suit -- this allows me to dress closer to the water temp.

I recently purchased a Gore-Tex semi dry top (wrist gaskets no neck
seal)
based on recommendations here on the list and I have been very pleased
with
the results. I was out the other day in cold conditions (Air mid to
upper
60s Water mid 70s) and was very comfortable.
