I'm Sid Taylor from northern California and I'm addicted to kayaking. I began my dependence the first time I landed on a remote beach. I confess that all the exhortations of friends and family have been unsuccessful in dissuading me from my preoccupation with idle pursuits. As for where I paddle: I have paddled the California coast south to Morro Bay, usually solo in 130NM chunks. I've made about five trips to Santa Cruz Island (the crown jewel of California's Channel Islands) and paddled to Catalina Island. I've paddled the east coast of Baja from Bahia de los Angeles to south of La Paz (Tecolote) twice, been to many Cortez islands, including circumnavigation of Isla Angel de la Guarda and Isla Tiburon, Mexico's two largest islands. In October of 1994, myself and three others doubled crossed the Sea of Cortez from San Francisquito, Baja to Bahia Kino, Sonora in four single kayaks. I've paddled in British Columbia and some on the west coast of Baja. Next month I'm going to circumnavigate Isla Angel de la Guarda again. Before spring I hope to finish the California coast. Although I have had no serious mishaps I have become increasingly safety-conscious. If you would like information about any of these places, please let me know. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************
