Yet another old fart lurker checking in. I too have been messing about in boats all my life. Spent alot of time sailing including a 48' ketch from Vermont to South America on a four year trip. Started moving into smaller boats when I moved to the Florida Keys about 20 years ago-power boats and finally from canoes to kayaks about ten years ago. Brother Mark in Maine got me thinking about kayaks. (When are you going to log in brother?) I did a lot of free diving and scuba diving from my SOT while exploring most of the lower Florida Keys and the Everglades. Moved to Beaufort, SC about 4 years ago and got a Chinook and then a Sea Lion which I have used to extensively paddle the rivers, marshes and coastal areas of SC and some in Georgia. My 10 year old daughter uses the SOT but lately both she and my wife seem to be paddling the Sea Lion more. Love to play in surf, paddle out into the open ocean in any kind of weather. I live on the ICW so can paddle year round. Try to get out at least 3-4 times a week with at least one 12-20 mile paddle a week. Just finished a Pygmy Coho which I will launch on my 55th birthday this week. Am planning a 100 mile trip down the Georgia coast this spring. Plan to build a Pygmy double next. I spend a month in Blue Rocks, Nova Scotia most summers and paddle lots up there. That is a pristine unpopulated area with seals and whales close to shore. There has been an increase in the number of kayakers in that area over the past several years. I really enjoy the information and humor you all provide. Thanks. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************
