Sounds like we all need a course in using E-Prime. In looking back over this thread the use of the verb "to be" triggered strong responses. Using E-prime would eliminate the qualifying statements that Dan dislikes yet would allow people to forcefully present their opinions without offence. The qualifiers become necessary to offset the use of the verb "to be". Onward and upward in our search for clarity through general semantics.
