Remember from a previous discussion it was determined that, the Mariner boats
have a built in Skeg. It makes the sliding seat effective. If you have the
current issue of Sea Kayaker there is a review of a Mariner boat. The picture
of the Elan on page 15 shows the typical  Mariner keel/skeg. 

To big for the Elan?
I am 6'4" and could fit in the Elan if I moved the seat band all the way back
and the foot pegs all the way forward. It is great fun to surf. I would pop
out of the low profile cockpit some times when rolling.
