It doesn't matter that the product was used illegally and not following the manufacturers instructions. People still want to hold them responsible. When tobacco got sued nobody cared. But now that it is spreading to other products the manufacturers are starting to get worried. The fear now is that this type of lawsuit will be used to sue any and all products manufactured in the US. IIRC, the auto industry is one of the manufacturers worried now.
