I just recently bought the Thule H2Go cradles/outrigger combo. I looked closely at the Yakima Sweetroll combo, but decided against it for my application. I drive a '96 Isuzu Trooper that is very tall. The Thule feet attach inside the top of the door jambs. Since it's a good 3 or 4 feet from the rear bar to the rear of the vehicle, a boat's bow would bounce on the rear edge of the roof before it reached the roller on the rear bar. If you have a car where the rear bar would mount close to the rear edge of the roof, the rollers would really be sweet. It is true that with the Thule setup you have to lift the stern of the boat pretty high in the air to clear the cradles and position the boat once you've got the bow on the outrigger. In my case I think it was still the best alternative. If you don't have a tall vehicle like this you'll have an easier time loading your boats any way you slice it. Of course, the old Trooper can go places that mere mortal vehicles only dream about.... *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Thu Mar 11 1999 - 12:56:17 PST
