Dumb question to an interesting post: assuming you're talking about Yak's "Snaparounds" when you say "clips", how do you mount the sandpaper strip? Grit in or out on the bar? With my Subaru Outback's long rails, I've been able to install a third bar all the way back on the rails --- the Outback takes Yak's DoubleCross mounts --- with one set of HullyRollers for loading only. That way, I keep the strength and solid support of the TLCs for carrying the boat, but get the advantage of the 'Rollers for loading. Negotiated the deal with another paddler on the list --- just split the cost. Should think P'Wise would be a good place to advertise your interest in splitting various accessories for tailoring a good rack solution.
