I was reading some catalogs and I noticed the paddles that were being shown up side down. In classes I teach students which side the top portion of the blade. Then I settled back in a chair and read through Sea Kayaker Magazine. The last glance picture shows a woman paddling along the coast of Puget Sound with a rather large dog on her stern deck. I noticed that she to was using the paddle in a feathered upside down position. Could this be a new paddling style sprouting up from Washington state? Like the Aussies teaching us the spare paddles should be stored on the bow deck and not on the stern deck. Is there someone out there that can shed some light on this? She may even be wearing a polyester top, not in the natural color.
