Interested in a half lap or so of Vancouver Island? I'm considering
a put-in during May 2000 in Johnstone Strait, paddling north to Cape
Scott then south to Barkley Sound, possibly in to Victoria or
Anacortes. Typical paddling distances of 12-20 miles per day,
with a few days significantly longer. Surf landings and launchings
at various beaches. Plenty of rest days and fishing. Total milage
about 500 or 600 miles. Estimated time 6-8 weeks, depending on
weather and take-out. Exact starting date TBD.

I'm seeking to identify a couple of paddling partners ASAP,
for get-to-know and warm-up trips this year. Respondents should
have adequate skills and endurance, be good team members, and
enjoy a monotonous diet of powdered milk, powdered lemonade, rice,
buckwheat pancakes, brownies and fresh rockfish in Thai curry sauce.
EMT skills a plus. If interested, reply with a brief bio. and
an outline of your expected trip schedule for this year, if known.

Good judgement is the result of experience. Experience is the result of
surviving poor judgement. I'm hoping to get some more experience.
