I've heard it from SKers near Barnegat Bay but no idea of what they were specifically referrring to. I've been on some whitewater rivers where there would be long sections of 'comparatively' quiet water, i.e. no waves and smooth looking. But it would be a mess of churning boils that would move my boat all over the place, even try to sink it between two adjacent ones. These are due to big rocks and uneven surfaces underwater deflecting waterflow. Think of them as Vertical Eddies. *************************************************************************** PaddleWise Paddling Mailing List Submissions: paddlewise_at_lists.intelenet.net Subscriptions: paddlewise-request_at_lists.intelenet.net Website: http://www.gasp-seakayak.net/paddlewise/ ***************************************************************************Received on Fri Mar 26 1999 - 07:07:49 PST
