[Paddlewise] Minnesota Weather

A number of years ago I spent a season working at the Guthrie Theatre in
Minneapolis. Shortly after I arrived (in February), I was talking to
someone about the cold, snowy weather, and asked about the other seasons.
He wrinkled his forehead and said "Oh yes, I remember last summer - it
was a Tuesday, and we went on a picnic."

The most common joke about the climate here is that Minnesota has only
two seasons: winter and road repair.

Actually, we have been having a beautiful spring, with day after day of
clear blue skies and above normal temperatures. We finally got some
badly-needed rain last weekend, which melted away the remnants of our
last, 16-inch, snowfall, but today it is clear and sunny again, and a
high in the low 60s is predicted for later in the week. Also, the ice
has all melted off the pond outside work, so the lakes can't be far
behind. :-)
