I have to join this thread on the islands. My wife and I enjoyed 10 days in the Lofoten Islands this past summer and they were without question the most magnificently dramatic part of our entire Scandinavia trip. The best description for North Americaners would be to imagine the Mt. Whitney region of the south Sierra in the middle of some of the richest ocean waters in the world. We climbed peaks (of which there are countless worthy summits) and paddled row boats out into the glass calm water, caught and ate countless fish and generally suffered from epiphanitis. It was way beyond description. The one thing we couldn't do, that I will return some day to do, is sea kayak. We were blessed by 75-85 degree clear calm weather the entire time there while Oslo and Stockholm got rain and grey skies. The Hostel in Stamsund is the best location and experience of any Hostel I've ever visited. The weather is usually not benign, however. A paradise and I'm glad to hear about this race. Not this year but... Brian Windrope _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
