You know a device has arrived when it becomes the subject of a cartoon strip. On Sunday, the "Ralph" cartoon strip (name is coincidental to yours truly) by Wayne Stayskal has two characters in a desert environment. One is tall, the other short. The short one asks his tall friend "Where are we?" The tall one, looking around, replies "Don't know. But I can find out." Other fellow, "How?" Tall fellow pulls out a GPS (not identified as such in the strip) and says "Using satellites, this will tell us our exact location here on Earth." "Great!" says the short fellow. Tall guy pushes some buttons and exclaims "Bingo!" Short fellow, anxiously pips up "Well, where does it say we're at?" The strip zooms out to display a wide desert around them and the tall fellow say "...in the middle of nowhere." ralph -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Ralph Diaz . . .
