My experience has been the same as Dennis' ; the hatch ring on the Romanys sometimes leaks. I've seen this a few times. They can be successfully repaired with Aquamend or other epoxy in the field or at home. 3M 5200 sealant would be even better, but be sure to let it set up for several days before stressing the seal. I think it is important **not** to use 3M 5200 around the hose coupling. Once it's set, there is nothing - nothing - which will dissolve or remove 3M 5200 without destroying surrounding structures first. I know this because I royally screwed up a Yakima footbrace by careless use of 5200 a couple of years ago. Phone calls to everyone I could think of, including 3M, failed to provide a way to break the resultant bond. So if you use 5200 on the hose and that joint ever fails in the future, you could be in much more serious difficulty. FWIW - 3M says it makes other sealants which can be dissolved. I haven't persued this.
