I'll just add that tick collars are considered useless by my veterinarian, as I learned after finding several juicy ticks hanging on my dog's neck, UNDER the tick collar. One thing that comes to mind is you're planning to wear these things on your ankles but ticks crawl up the branches of the underbrush, as I understand it, and make contact from some level above the ground... maybe wearing them at the knees or waist would be more effective.
