Didn't do much paddling but did an "awful lot of camping out and lots of hiking". The locals were HOS-TILE, and yes, the dogs would not eat some of the MRE's ! The canteen mocha was indeed a treat. Another treat ...basic I'll admit ....was to saturate a canteen cover with water and let it evaporative-cool over night. Early each morning I would take the longest, coolest drink of water I think I've ever had. Good stuff. Thinking back I wish I could have paddled some in the Nam. There were lots of mountain blue lines we hiked ( "humped was the term...") that would have been great creekin' spots, especially during the monsoon deluges. Beautiful "spider lakes" dotted the mountain valleys, surrounded by lush jungle cover. The South China Sea would have been a great area to explore I'm sure, except under different circumstances ......hmmm, now about all that high-explosive stuff ...... I see in a magazine that some outfitters offer a VIET NAM paddle trip. Anyone been there to paddle ? ....when ? ...where ?
